We
are proud to utilize the
latest technology
available to locate
decay (cavities). One
device we use is a very
low- intensity laser
housed in a pencil –
like device. To locate
decay we simply move the
probe painlessly on the
biting surface of your
tooth. It measures the
density of the tooth
structure and can detect
changes in mineral
content which can
indicate decay activity.
We
can also use our digital
x-ray software to run an
analysis of the density
of the enamel on the
digital film. This
statistical analysis
tells us if decay is
present.
The bad
news? We may find a
cavity. The good news?
We found a small cavity
that would have remained
undetected just two
years ago. It would’ve
grown until it was
visible by the old
fashioned conventional
methods. By diagnosing
the lesion early, we are
able to place a very
conservative filling,
usually without
anesthetic (Novocain)! |
